Is it possible to grow a staghorn fern in the ground?

Possible yes, but they don't do well in the ground. They are epiphytic plants and their roots need air to do well. Plus, they don't take any kind of water logging well. I have seen them survive ok in soil filled containers, but they had to be able to dry out completely between waterings. In the ground, it would be difficult to provide that kind of enviroment.
