Squirrel deterrent

Question

In my 30 litre fruit tree containers, I’m getting a hole being burrowed down to near the bottom. I’ve been told it’s probably squirrels causing this. I had the same problem last year, where they were stealing my seed potatoes from full 30 litres of compost in containers. How can I prevent this from happening? How do I deter the squirrels from burrowing in my containers?
