Q.Squash and Cucumber Vines Split

Anonymous added on May 26, 2014 | Answered

I have some squash and cucumber plants that the stems are splitting. They are still growing and flowers and small fruit are coming on some of them but can you tell me why they are splitting. I also have them in a raised bed.

While stem split is common and usually due to extreme temperatures changes and uneven watering, it never hurts to check for signs of pests, especially since they can penetrate the plant through these splits.
