Q.Sprouted Seed Potatoes

Anonymous added on February 9, 2014 | Answered

I have potatoes left from last year’s garden that have long stems but no roots and are soft. Question is, do you think they have enough energy left to form roots if planted?

Yes, they should be ok. This is referred to as chitting and is done by some people purposefully to speed potato growing along. This article will explain more: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/potato/sprouting-seed-potatoes.htm
