Split In Trunk

We have a fig tree that suffered a split in the trunk a couple of years ago. We tied the the split together and the tree seemed to be thriving. This year, we have had a bumper crop of figs and the tree split again in the same spot. It is the wrong time to prune but the branches are wilting. Do I saw the branches off or do we try to tie the split again?

If some of the bark is still attached, you can tie or even bolt it back together. If the bark has been severed, there is nothing that can be done for the branch and it need to be removed.
