sowing seeds

I am having a little problem with the soil drying out too fast when I plant seeds, especially carrots, spinach, and radishes.  I am planting rotating crops on these types of veggies . As it gets hotter. I am losing moisture in the soil. I am not home all day to tend to this, so I put some straw down on some and raised black plastic on others. Need some other suggestions to try out. Thanks.

I would try watering both in the evening and in the morning.

You can also try putting a timer on your hose to water when you are not home. Hose timers are pretty cheap and can be bought at many hardware and big box stores.

You may also want to try using an opaque cloth draped over the area to keep the direct sun off the soil and seeds but still allow sunlight to get there.
