Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI’ve tried washing the apples from my tree that have sooty blotch according to the pictures I see on this website, but cannot get the botches off. I would prefer to eat the entire apple with the skin, but wonder if it is safe to do so. Please let me know or if there is something else I can do, such as giving the apples a bath of white vinegar or something else, to kill anything that could be harmful to me. Thank you, Nancy Molinari

Vigorous cleaning by rubbing the apples is recommended to wash the apples. There will be discoloration left on the apple skin.
You also can wash them in a diluted bleach solution though it is not necessary.
The fruit is safe to eat.
