Q.Something Is Eating My Hydrangeas. How Can I Stop This?

Zone 5b | Tracey Campbell added on November 9, 2022 | Answered

My Bobo hydrangea has been eaten by something. It is pretty short at the moment. I am not sure if it will live. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, it can be difficult to stop the creature without catching it, first. If you can find any hint of what is eating your Hydrangea, then you can begin to correct the issue. You can try a mix of hot pepper water, as a general repellent.

At this late time of the growing season, I would expect nibbling by rabbits and deer. The plant will live but it will not go into much active growth now in Zone 5. New foliage should get zapped soon by frosts. You can try to fence the plant to protect it or spray with Plantskydd, etc.
