What type soil and fertilizer should I be using for crape myrtle bushes in Central Ohio?

They will survive in most any soils, as long as it is a little on the acidic side. Fertilization is not usually necessary, but a layer of compost, or half strength all purpose fertilizer every few years will be ok.
