Smooty Mold on Gardenia Leaves

Anonymous added on May 21, 2011 | Answered

I have an outdoor gardenia, which is doing great, but it gets smooty mold on its leaves. I spray it with a soapy mixure and water. It dries up the mold and it blows off; but what I was wondering is if there is anything I can spray it with to prevent this stuff from gathering on the plant to start with?
