small pussywillow tree

COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT WOULD CAUSE A HEALTHY SMALL PUSSYWILLOW TREE TO DIE. IT WAS GROWING WELL FOR SEVERAL YEARS, THEN STARTED DYING ON ONE SIDE AND THEN THE REST OF IT DIED. IT IS ONE OF THE MINATURE TREES . VERY BEAUTIFUL AND THE LITTLE BIRDS LOVED HIDING IN THE CROOKED BRANCHES THAT GREW ON IT.

It sounds like the soil sustained an infection. You can return the soil to normal by adding dolomitic lime, and wettable sulfur. This will kill off anything living in it, and bring the pH back to a suitable condition.
