Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comDoes slim mold form more frequently in certain mulch?
I have double hammered mulch in my mulch beds and the slim mold forms each year.
My neighbor has Lowe’s mulch and another has mulch from a different landscaper and they do not have slim mold. Their mulch is larger wood chips than double hammered mulch.
Is my mulch decomposing faster thus more susceptible to the mold? Poor quality mulch?
Thank you
Doug

Slime mold thrives in damp areas. Increasing air flow in an area or allowing the mulch to dry out will help. It has nothing to do with type of mulch or mulch size.
