silver dollar eucalyptus

Question

I have a silver dollar eucalyptus that is probably 40 years old, about 25 feet tall with a large twisted trunk growing out to one side but very full. It is very healthy looking but I am worried about the size of the root system to support this tree. It gets plenty of water and sun and we prune the lower branches but have not done a major pruning. I mainly need to know how strong the roots grow to support a large tree like this.

The roots should be plenty strong, but because eucalyptus are known to have shallow root systems, it would not hurt to have a tree expert come out and make sure that the tree is anchored properly. Things like erosion and barriers can eat away at the stability of a tree’s root system. I cannot say if this is the case with your tree. Only an expert who was able to examine the roots would be able to tell you for sure.

If they bloomed before, then soil around the non-blooming rose may simply be lacking phosphorus. That can affect the ability of the plant to bloom. Adding some bone meal in the soil should help alleviate the problem in the future.
