Shrubs Good for Wet Soil

Question

I have an area near the entryway of my home, and unfortunately, the water collects there quiet easily. Some parts are even starting to get a little moss on the soil. It doesn’t get a lot of direct sunlight, and I am wondering if there’s a shrub or bush I can use as a hedge that will maybe help soak up some of the extra water in the soil so that it doesn’t continue to have moss growing.

So it’s bog you’ve got set up outside your door. reminds me of the middle ages with the moats out front. You should seek out swamp plants that thrive in rich moist warm soil. Ferns are an excellent choice and there are so many exotic varieties today, that your current eye sore today could be an eye catcher next week. I would choice a wide variety of greens to contrast yet compliment each other.If you need and or want color how about a Bleeding heart plant. If you are not happy with these ideas you could work at exchanging your soil to include sand and or create a blockage to redirect the water-flow to that area. The last selection of choices is a raised bed over that area. So that the water still flows to and through that area but just disguised under the raised bed.I have had this exact same problem and my heart does go out to you, attempting to correct this, especially at the front door.
