Q.Shrubs Could Not Be Planted In March So Repotted, Can I Plant Now Or Wait Till Autumn?

Zone peterborough uk | davidball949@yahoo.com added on June 14, 2020 | Answered

brought deutuzia, weiglia and philadelphus to plant in march but due to lockdown work was not done so repotted them to give them extra room. Should we wait till autumn to plant them out or can we plant them now with lots of watering

It, really, depends on your weather. If it gets "hot" in your area (above 90 F) I would not plant it this close to summer. I would wait until Autumn.

The problem with planting in heat is that many people will try to compensate with overwatering, which will lead to many more problems. Should you decide to plant in heat, it is best to put up a temporary shade cloth to protect from the hottest portions of the day, instead of offering extra water. Watering should be done once the soil dries, thoroughly, down to about 2 or 3 inches. If you feel moisture down to that depth, watering should be held off.
