Should Lemongrass Have A Strong Odour

Hi, I have a small lemongrass plant in doors. It’s seem very healthy with plenty of light. Should a lemongrass plant have a strong smell when it’s planted? Eg the way you basel for instance has a strong smell. When I pull a blade and smell it, there is an odour. But plant when in not disturb does not have a strong smell is this normal.
