Q.Help for Christmas cactus

Zone Southern California San Fernando Valley | Linda D added on April 21, 2015 | Answered

Should I keep a Christmas Cactus if its “leaves” have turned dark and purplish? My husband likes to help and continually waters this plant, and even put it in the hot sun outside for a few weeks. Can I save this plant?

Your plant may be suffering from root rot.

Here is a link with directions to dry out the roots.

With some work and if the plant is not to far gone it can be saved.
