Q.Should I Deadhead New Plants That I Recently Put In The Ground. ?

Zone 92026 | Anonymous added on July 22, 2021 | Answered

We recently planted young lantanas, red salvias, white wand guaras, should I deadhead them when the flowers are falling off. They are in full sun on a small slope. How often should we water them when they are new?

Yes, you can deadhead them at any time. Since they are in full sun, and it's probably pretty warm there, I would water every other day to start. Then, depending on whether you get rain or not, and the temperature, keep them watered enough to prevent wilting of the flowers. If you wait three days and they wilt, then that is too long. Water every two days, etc.
