Q.Should I Cut Off This Section Of My Mango Tree?

Zone Dallas | jason.cothran added on December 5, 2021 | Answered

A black spot appeared in the middle of my mango tree main branch (about 4 years old) it has produced no fruit yet. It has already lost a lot of leaves and I dont want to prune more, but should I cut off this part to be safe? I’m not sure what the problem is, I just sprayed copper fungicide on it today.

Yes, cut below that with sterile tools. Treat the area, immediately. That is bacterial.

make sure that your tree's soil dries out down to about 3 or 4 inches, thoroughly, between waterings. This will be the primary cause for infections like this. Dirty pruners will cause this as well. be sure to wipe them with alcohol, or another sterilizer.
