Q.Should dead blooms be removed from gardenia to promote more blooms

Zone 10 | NAN added on April 26, 2012 | Answered

I have many blooms for my first year. I’m thrilled! Does it help to remove old blooms in order to prompt the plants to produce even more?

You can deadhead the flowers, but they do not need it. Simply pinch the blooms once they have died back at the base of the bloom, taking care not to disturb any new buds that may be forming.
