Should I cut back my asparagus bed or leave it alone?

I harvested 4-5 small cuttings last year. But forgot them this year until now (May 5) and they are 4-5 feet tall.

I will sometimes miss my cut of asparagus too!
I let them go to seed, then trim down to a few inches from the soil.
