Q.Short cuts for floating hydroponics gardens.
All of this is taking place on a covered deck. Using a 5′ kiddy pool. I have built a floating garden.I have used 2″ Styrofoam cut for the diameter of pool and I have cut holes for the Styrofoam cups. Cut out some holes in the bottom of cups for roots. I am using clean while pebbles to hold my plants in the cups. Added my master blends fertilizer,Epsom salt and calcium nitrate.I have bought an aquarium air pump. I believe I have built a garden on items I already had to reduce cost. Already had a pack of celery plants to put into cups. Also purchased some lettuce plants today. We are still experiencing high heat and humidity in our neck of the woods. Have a plan for cold weather that will include aquarium heater and relocation or added heat if need be. Question. How are we doing so far?

It sounds like you have a good idea of what you are doing so far. I would say that the heat is the only thing that will set you back here, with celery.
