Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comMy mom passed away 1 1/2 years ago and I now have her indoor shamrock plant which is dying. I do not have a green thumb. Been watering it everyday and now every other day. There are only two good stems left. I am so sad, as are my 5 and 7 year old sons. I had it in a south-facing window, which is mainly shade due to the overhang of the foyer outside. Yesterday I moved it to the east window which gets sun. The “petals” or leaves on one of the remaining stems has turned white. Now it is July 30th. Desperately need your help. Or is the plant dead? (my mom had her plant in a west window and was such a beautiful plant)

I’m so sorry for your loss 🙁
I have a Shamrock plant as well, and in the winter it goes SO dormant that I swear every year I’ve killed it. But I put it back outside in partial shade and give it plenty of water, and every year it really does come back.
The moral of that story is that they can be a little finicky. They need bright light, but too much direct burning light isn’t good for them. They need plenty of water, but should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
The east-facing window might not be giving it enough light. Try a south-facing window (but make sure it doesn’t get so hot that it will burn it) and make sure the soil stays “just moist.” If possible, put it outside when you know rain is coming — for some reason, mine does way better with real rainfall than my well water. You can actually leave Shamrock plants outside for the summer, and you may find that your plant will like it a little better. Then just bring it inside for the winter and follow the tips in this article:
