Shady Areas

The area I’m wanting to start growing vegetables is very shady and possibly gets only a couple of hours a day of sunshine. What are the best vegetables to grow that only need a smaller amount of sunlight?

I’m afraid your choices here are very limited. Leafy vegetables like lettuce, cabbage, and greens do well with limited sunlight, making good choices for shady areas. However, most other types of vegetables require at least 4-6 hours of sunlight each day. Choices here can include tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, beans, carrots, radishes, and vine crops such as squash, pumpkins, and cucumbers.
