Q.Shading My Veggies

Anonymous added on July 4, 2012 | Answered

I live in Phoenix, Az. I built two raised beds to grow vegetables in. Everything I planted did well in the spring, but when the 100 degree plus temps arrived, my tomatoes yellowed and split on the top (stem end) and the green peppers bleached out on the side towards the sun. What percentage shade cloth would be best for me to use, and should I cover my boxes all over or leave them uncovered on one side or another?

Try using a shade cloth with 50 percent reduction.
