Q.Shade cloth right for my greenhouse?
I am near Reno NV. Hot, dry, high elevation. I have a frame approx. 12x10x8 (curved topline – actually, an old ‘portable car port’ frame). I am trying to make a successful greenhouse because anything grown here that is unprotected will be eaten within 24-48 hours!
I used “greenhouse film” last year but also has one end covered with an open weave cloth plus a small fan to improve circulation. Watered every day plus had tubs of standing water to increase humidity. Greenhouse is in full sun until very late afternoon. Anyway, temp got way too hot and the plants died.
Someone suggested installing a small evaporative cooler. Maybe, I’m not closing the door on that idea. But I think an open weave over the entire structure will make a difference.
So, am I on the right track? What specifications would I need to know about (50%? 60%) Is there a website that will address my situation? Thank you so much!
