Shade alternative to daylilies

Hello, I planted daylilies along a strip between an urban road and sidewalk. I chose daylilies because they are tough/robust plants that grow and flower well. However, I don’t think they are receiving enough direct light for them to thrive. Is there an alternative shade plant that could tolerate urban conditions and provide similar benefits? Thanks.
