Q.seed germination
I am having problems with germination of bean seeds. I usually soak them in warm water for 24 hours and then plant them in the ground. It has been more than a week, but haven’t had any germination so far. What could be the problem?
Do not use too hot of water and only soak long enough to soften the outer coat, too long and you run the risk of the seed rotting.
Particularly hard seeds like beans will benefit from scarification before they’re soaked. Scarification means nicking the seed coat (be careful not to puncture it completely) but scratching with a dull knife or buffing the seed with a nail file.
