Sedge control in turf grass lawns.

How can I get rid of Pensylvanica sedge that is creeping into our lawn from an adjacent community owned drainage ditch where it was planted? I’ve read that the sedge puts out horizontal rhizomes that allow more and more sedge blades to emerge. We don’t want a sedge lawn! I pull them out, but realize they will continue to migrate via the rhizomes. What will stop them?
