Scotch Broom

Sonoma County Fire may have a bit of a blessing. I have eight acres that when we moved in was about 60% broom. Over the past 10 years I have cleared 90% of what was there and each year sprayed, or pulled new plants coming up. If anybody thinks they have a solution to the broom problem they are delusional. After the wild fire that destroyed so much wild land and homes the broom is coming up prolifically. Even in areas that I spray with round up multiple times it looks more like a field of dichondra. Believe me, Broom loves the heat. These seeds are probably well over 10 years old, bullet proof, and are growing like crazy right now. I have just ordered and will be spraying 4 gallons of concentrate (360 mixed gallons) over my 8 acres and would recommend to anybody that is in the same situation to do the same thing. It is the only chance you have other than possible tilling or burning the seedlings. FYI…a few years back a did a burn pile that was about 8 feet in diameter. In the spring I had a 2 foot wide do-nut of broom seedlings around the burn pile. All Broom!!!! I know…I know. I hate it too, but Roundup seems to be the only way.
