Scale on eggplant

Eggplant has scale like on it. I planted an eggplant bush and about 1 month ago only one eggplant appeared, but it is scaly looking and won’t be good to eat. What is this and why hasn’t it produced more fruit?

There is actually a pest that is called scale and it is possible that this is what you are seeing. Here is more information on that:
