Q.Saving Strawberry Root Plants For Planting
I have no idea of what to do. The season in Fort Myers for strawberries is Dec-Feb, so they should be planted I think around Aug, no later than Sept for a Jan Harvest. I can order strawberry root plants to be shipped in the spring (Feb). What would you do to save these plants until the fall?

Here is a strawberry fact sheet for Florida and it says to buy transplants at the garden center in late fall and plant.

If you must buy yours in February you could plant them in containers and keep them in a cool place till fall, such as an air conditioned room near a sunny window. They will decline in the heat of the summer outside. It would be best just to buy your plants in the fall or start them from seed in late summer.
