Saving seeds from purslane and lambs quaters

I found some lambs quarters and common purslane growing in my garden and decided to try and cultivate it. Growing it was very easy but now that the season is drawing to a close I am wondering on the best way to harvest the seeds. I have many questions… what containers should I use? do I dry them first? store in light or dark conditions? dry or moist? as far as the lambsquaters goes do I harvest the seeds after flowering or before? how do I separate the “chaff” and the seed?
I have been thinking for the lambs quarters I could cut the seed bunches off and maybe tie them together with string and dry the seed bunches out side. but once its dry how do I separate the seed from the chaff? what if I store them over the winter in the seed pod and use water to separate the seed from the chaff when I’m ready to plant them? the seeds should sink to the bottom?
sorry for the overload of text. Alot of what I have found on the internet doesn’t give me all the details. I am a detailed oriented person
