San Fernando Valley, CA Destructive Tree Beetle

Question

A tree beetle is destroying large numbers of trees in California’s San Fernando Valley. I’m removing a tree in my parkway that was a victim of this beetle. Before I replace the tree, I’d like to know more about this pest. Can you give me any information?
