Birds can be sensitive to hot peppers. I have kept them away by boiling sliced hot peppers in water. Let this cool, and strain it into a spray bottle. Spray this once a week or so, and nothing will come near it. Just be sure not to get this in your eyes, mouth, or anywhere really.
