Sago Palms

I have 2 large sago palms that are 8 years old in pots and I want to plant them outside in the ground. Will they grow? I have been keeping them stored in the basement in the winter and bringing them outdoors until fall. They aren’t looking so good at the moment, as we just brought them outside. They have really outgrown their pots and I can’t find bigger pots to plant them in, so I would really like to plant them in the ground. We used to state line in Texas and that is where I got them. They grow well outdoors in Texas, but I am not to sure about GA.

It should do fine in your region. The sago palm should be outdoors in partial shade (with three or more hours of sunlight a day) and protected from the wind. The sago is an extremely hardy plant and can withstand many conditions, including drought and brief periods of freezes and cold snaps. It’s well suited to both indoor and outdoor environments, can tolerate transplanting easily, and acclimates well to its new environment. This plant is extremely hardy and can survive intemperatures ranging from 15-110 degrees F, with special care taken in extreme situations.
