Q.Sago Palm Reduction
A friend of mine has several Sagos that are about 6-8 feet tall. He had asked me if it were possible to shorten the tree by removing the top and replanting it. Is this a possibility? How would you suggest he make the sagos shorter? There are no pups to pull and replant. They are nice specimens but are very tall and intimidating to the rest of the landscape plantings. Any advice you can give would be very appreciated. Also, he has a white scale problem. What would you recommend for him to alleviate this problem?

Sago palms do not respond well to pruning. I am afraid there is not much that can be done to reduce their size.
