Sago Palm Pruning

I have unfortunately removed all the palm leaves from a male sago palm. It has 3 cones left only. Help! Have I destroyed this beautiful plant?

Sagos usually don’t take that well to pruning, especially if it’s drastic. It is hard to say how well it will grow back, if at all. Sago palms do not deal well with lost fronds, but they have been known to recover fine. I would wait a whole season to see if fronds grow back. I’ve pruned all of the fronds off of my 11-year-old sago every February. I’ve never had an issue with the sagos “not taking it well.” Do your research and talk to reputable nurseries.
