Sago Palm

I have a question about a 20 year Sago Palm that we have always trimmed the old fronds off when the new comes out every year, so now our Sago Palm is about 4 feet tall and we have always had just “new growth” at the top. This year for some reason “two heads” are coming in at the top and we do not like the way it looks, so my question is, would it be ok to cut off about 10% of the top portion of the trunk in an effort to just have “one single head” and what time of the year should we do this? Thank you. . charlene hickman

The new heads are pups. This article will tell you how to remove them and repot them (bottom of article): https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/sago-palm/prune-sago-palm.htm [1]
