Q.sago palm

Zone south fl. | jhager added on May 1, 2012 | Answered

My gardener removed all fronds from sago palms and left just the male cones. Are my palms ruined? When I saw them I was very upset! What care must I take for them to survive?

If the fronds were yellow or brown, then they were in need of removal and new ones will eventually regrow. With green fronds, it is difficult to say how well it will come back since sagos do not respond well to lost fronds. I would give it some time, at least another month or so, to see if it will regrow fronds.
