It appears that there is a mold or something covering the cone that is cushy where the leaves are and it appears red in the core of the cone underneath. Please see the photos below and please help!!

Pink Rot can attack any part of a Palm Tree and is considered a secondary disease. Pink Rot causes leaf spots, root rot, or stunted and deformed growth.
The visible pink spores are the tell tale symptom.
Keeping the Palm healthy is the best determent for this disease. Make the palm is properly planted and do not over or under water.
Use a fertilizer specific to a Sago Palm.
Avoid injury the plant and only use clean tools when pruning.
A fungicide may have some benefits in treating.
