Sago Palm

I cut some of the times off the bottom of my sago. There is now a clear sticky ball where I cut. What is this and have I damaged the plant?

This ‘goo’ that your seeing is actually the plant produces a substance that looks gel like.
This substance is helping the plant heal itself from the injury.
Keep an eye on the plant for any signs of decline or insects, but it should be able to heal itself.
