Q.Saffron Crocus Blooms

Zone 62234 | Anonymous added on December 12, 2022 | Answered

I planted saffron crocus corms in late October…Illinois, near St. Louis. Will they survive the winter and could that possibly bloom this year?

They are hardy down to -15 degrees F (-26 C) so you are right on the edge of hardiness. Mulching them well in winter will help. They should put up foliage in the spring that dies back, then they bloom in fall.
