Q.Russian Cypress; New Growth Or Something Else?

Zone 56623 | AshleyNicole311 added on July 16, 2024 | Answered

Was curious if anyone happens to know if Russian Cypress (shrubs) produce runners? Does anyone know what to expect new growth to look like? Wondering if those green off shoots are infact the cypress or an entirely different plant? I appreciate the help! Thank you! 🙂

The growth that resembles your Russian cypress is definitely that. It won't spread by runner, though. If that is what looks like a small seedling, then it could have germinated in that spot.

That stringy growth is something totally different. That stringy growth looks like it may be a young Equisetum.
