Rubber Tree Plant

I have a rubber tree plant. It is not very big yet, but I noticed that the tips of the leaves are starting to discolor and turn brown. What can I do to prevent this and keep the plant from dying? It sits by a west window in my living room, and the sun does not shine directly on it.
