Q.Rubber Tree
How often should you change the soil of your rubber tree? What kind of fertilizer should I use? My plant is about 6 years old, and I almost lost it when I first got it from my son, who bought it at Home Depot. It only had 2 leaves left on it when I transplanted it. I found out it had about 3 inches of soil and the rest were plastic bags. I transplanted it into about a 7 gallon container. How much larger should the container be? I am concerned because it has recently been dropping leaves and I have checked it for pests – there are none.
It has grown wonderfully at the top of my staircase that has a window with a sheer curtain, all the right conditions. But it is now about 5 feet tall with several branches making it almost impossible to get past it on the stairs, so I had to change its home at the top of the stairs. I will add the sheer curtain but am still concerned about the soil, fertilizer and the time to transplant. Any information would be appreciated, as I truly love this plant.
