Q.Roundup In Garden

Trish barrett added on February 13, 2025 | Answered

Hi, I have to highlight this as it’s important that your readers are aware. Excerpt from : The Ecology Center: Glyphosate is suspected of causing genetic damage. Glyphosate is acutely toxic to fish and birds and can kill beneficial insects and soil organisms that maintain ecological balance. Laboratory studies have identified adverse effects of glyphosate-containing products in all standard categories of toxicological testing. QUESTION: Would it be wiser not to advocate the use of these Glyphosate containing products? Best wishes Trish Barrett

Personally... I won't use glyphosate. To me, it is too much of a risk.

This is a complicated subject, though. We have to provide information on the subject, since people still want to use it. What we think becomes irrelevant, in that case, and it is better to provide information on proper use to avoid people using it blindly. This is exacerbating issues. People are using it off label, and too much of it. We do cover alternatives in other articles. Used off label and too much, or too often will DESTROY microbial life and marine life at a quick rate. It will be too much to break down before it reaches important water sources. Education on proper use would be the only option, since there are many people who will do whatever they want regardless of what anyone thinks. If they are going to do it- Better to do it in a way that reduces risk as much as possible.
