I would avoid containers made from stone or cement as these heat up in the sun and transfer the heat to roots. Not good. Glazed ceramic is heavy but good looking. However, ceramic and terra cotta can crack when temps go below freezing. Remember that contain plants are considered one hardiness zone colder than your actual zone. Since you are in 7a, make sure to get a rose that is hardy to zone 6 if you will be keeping it outdoors in winter.
