The rosebush can be planted in late summer. I just did plant one as a matter of fact. Place some bone meal or super phosphate in the soils at the bottom of the hole to give the roots something to munch on over the winter. Also give the rosebush some root stimulator when planted. It is not the best time to plant them but it can still be one successfully. I have better luck getting the in the ground than trying to overwinter them indoors. Be sure to mound the soils up around it after a hard frost that sends it into winter dormancy.
