roses

After initial blooming in the spring, the new shoots and buds on my roses wilt and dry. My friend said it might be rose midge. What is the best product to get rid of them? Thank you

It could be midge but could be other insects as well and could also be sun scald if it has been very hot where you are. Spray the rosebushes affected with an insecticide listed to control midges. I have used a systemic product that also contains a little fertilizer. Bayer Tree and shrub granules sprinkled around the base of the bushes, worked into the soils lightly and water it in. The systemic insecticide is take up by the roots and moves through the natural juices of the rosebush to protect it.
